Ballinoo
(Murchison River, Western Australia, Australia) CII (iron)
Found 1892
Of the 913 iron meteorites listed in the 5th edition Catalogue of Meteorites, only 9 are recognised as IIC's. This is a rare iron group, seldom seen or offered to collectors. The Ballinoo meteorite was found in Western Australia in 1892. Museum distribution appears to be very low....represented as 6g, 10g and 37g specimens in just three collections, according to the Catalogue. The main mass in Nurmberg was the source of a beautiful full slice that found its way into the Monnig Meteorite Collection at TCU, Fort Worth.
