OT: Lyme Regis Fossil Festival

Postby David Entwistle » Thu Apr 23, 2015 8:38 pm

Although not directly linked to meteorites, anyone interested in meteorites is almost certain to find something of interest at the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival. I don't know for sure, but I suspect, if you look hard enough, you will find some meteorites there...

1st - 3rd May 2015.

The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival is an annual event for the whole family. Enjoy walks, talks, theatre, music, comedy, exhibits and lots of hands-on science for all ages. The Fossil Fair (open 1-4 May) offers fun and rare fossils, minerals and jewellery from 50p up.

Help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary in 2015 when we explore ‘Mapping the Earth’, to join in the UK-wide celebrations marking the 200th Anniversary of the publication of William Smith’s geological map – the first in the world

Meet scientists from the Natural History Museum, British Antarctic Survey, Palaeontological Association, UK Onshore Geological Survey, Plymouth University, Natural England, Jurassic Coast, Dorset Geologists, Geological Society, Lyme Regis Museum, Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, National Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust, National Oceanography Centre, Dinosaur Isle and many more.

Entry to the Grand Marquee is free, and there is a small charge for talks. There will be lots of street performance, as well as theatre, music and comedy at the Marine Theatre.
