Ivuna

Postby David Entwistle » Wed Sep 23, 2015 7:16 am

I see that the Natural History Museum web page for their Science Uncovered Event mentions a new acquisition of the meteorite Ivuna....

See the first public displays of two of the Museum’s most important recent acquisitions: the Ivuna meteorite and a complete Greenland shark.

The Guardian web site also gives it a bit of a mention and provides a picture.

The Meteoritical Bulletin Database provides:

    Name: Ivuna
This is an OFFICIAL meteorite name.
Abbreviation: There is no official abbreviation for this meteorite.
    Observed fall: Yes
    Year fell: 1938
    Country: Tanzania
    Mass: 705 g
Classification: CI1(A carbonaceous chondrite of the CI group that is petrologic type 1).
    Map

Is that the 122 g main mass that was held by Tanzania Geological Survey?
