12:15 - 13:00 Meteorites and the origins of life
Dr Terry Kee - School of Chemistry, University of Leeds.
Our earth is continuously being bombarded by material, bringing with it bits of sand, “dust” or metal and a variety of complex organic molecules, some of which form parts of the most central chemicals in biology, proteins and DNA. In this lecture we will look at what chemicals make their way to earth from the stars and how they may have impacted upon life emergence on earth.
