Cleaning tungsten carbide scale cubes

I am sure many of you have one of these scale cubes, from Jeff Kuyken. Has anyone found a good method of cleaning them? The official website recommends rubbing them with alcohol. I have tried meths, white spirit, distilled water and washing up liquid, but still can't get rid of those unsightly stains!
Any advice gratefully received.
